Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must possess a PhD degree or be on track to complete their PhD before the fellowship commencement date, specifically no later than June 15, 2027.

• A copy of the PhD diploma or official proof of successful thesis defense is required before the fellowship contract can be issued.

• The proposed research area of the applicant must align with and be supported by the research fields available at ISTA. Detailed information on supported research areas can be found on the official ISTA research website at https://ist.ac.at/en/research.

• Individuals who are currently employed at ISTA prior to September 1, 2026, are not eligible to apply for this specific postdoctoral fellowship program.

• Candidates are encouraged to proactively contact and secure an agreement with a potential faculty supervisor at ISTA before submitting their application, as supervisor details are a required part of the application process.

• Required application documents include a detailed Research Proposal, a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV), an Academic Summary, a compelling Motivation Statement, a completed Ethics Self-Assessment Form, and three Reference Letters. PhD Diploma and Academic Transcripts are optional at the initial application stage but will be required later.
